OUR STORY
Kelly & Leonard was formed in 2008 by husband and wife Thomas E. Kelly and Patricia Leonard. The firm’s practice is limited to personal injury litigation, criminal defense and traffic matters.
Patricia and Thomas met as prosecutors in the Bronx District Attorney's Office in 1990. In 1997 they moved to Saratoga Springs where Thomas continued his career as a trial attorney with Horigan, Horigan, Lombardo and Kelly, PC in Amsterdam. Patricia focused on raising their four children while also doing criminal defense, real estate and part time insurance defense.
Following a successful 10 years as litigators, they decided to form their own firm in Ballston Spa. The firm’s vision is to provide professional, transparent and honest representation to all of our clients.
OUR ATTORNEYS
THOMAS KELLY
Thomas was raised in Poughkeepsie and graduated from Siena College in 1986. At Siena he was a marketing student and a member of the football and rugby teams. He graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1989 and joined the Bronx District Attorney Office. During his six years in the Bronx, he developed his trial skills and was a member of the Bronx Housing Task Force. The team prosecuted violent drug related felonies in the housing projects. He then went on to work at two defense firms on Long Island.
Attorney Kelly has tried over 150 cases to jury verdict in 30 Counties in New York State. He has trial experience in Federal and Supreme Courts and appeared before the United States Supreme. He prides himself on his hard work, competitive nature and credibility.
Outside of the courtroom, Thomas enjoyed coaching youth sports, traveling and playing in the YMCA basketball league.
PATRICIA LEONARD
Patricia was raised in Queens, NYC and graduated from Queens College in 1987. She graduated from Hofstra Law School in 1990 and joined the Bronx District Attorneys Office. During her seven years in the Bronx, she prosecuted felony offenders and became a member of the Narcotics Wiretapping Unit, which dealt with the NYS Appellate Division, First Department.
Attorney Leonard is equally proud of her career as a litigator as well as the experience of raising their four children. She was able to participate in all of their numerous activities while continuing her career.
In addition to litigating for the firm, Patricia also manages the firm.
